Metrorail train service was inaugurated
The Metro Rail train will start running on the flyover today. However, this movement will be passengerless and experimental. The operation of the train between four stations from Uttara to Pallabi in the capital is being called ‘Performance Test’. Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will inaugurate the train service at 10 am today at the depot constructed for Metro Rail in Uttara. Metrorail project officials held a meeting at Uttara Depa on Saturday to inaugurate the pilot operation. Even at night, senior officials brought trains for Metrorail, by air Observed lines and other arrangements at Basana.
With the launch of this Metrarail, the communication system of Dhaka will undergo an unprecedented change. Quick communication. Traffic congestion will be reduced, time will be saved, working hours will be increased, environmental pollution will be reduced. The length of this metro from Uttara to Motijheel is 20.1 km. Both sides will be able to carry 60 thousand passengers in 24 hours and 5 lakh passengers in a day. Motijheel can be reached from Uttara in 38 minutes. Fully powered electricity will keep the environment of Dhaka pollution free. This metrorail will run 13 meters above the ground and there are soundproofing walls on both sides of the line to control noise pollution. This Metrorail of Swapan (Uttara Depot-Uttara North-Uttara Center-Uttara South-Pallabi-‘Mirpur-11 ‘-‘Mirpur-10’-Kazipara-Shewrapara-Agargaon-Vijay Sarni-Farmgate-Karwan Bazar-Shahbag-Dhaka University-Bangladesh Secretariat-Motijheel) will have 16 stations.
Metrorail train service from Uttara Depot was inaugurated at 10 am today
Earlier on Friday morning, there was a preparatory train from Uttara to Pallabi. According to project sources, this morning local and foreign experts will evaluate the entire system and report to the Minister of Road Transport and Bridges. On this basis, the Minister can announce when the train will run with passengers. The length of metro rail from Uttara to Motijheel is 20.10 km. There will be 16 stations on this route. The 4 stations that are being operated today are Uttara-North, Uttara Center, Uttara-South and Pallabi. These stations have been prepared for experimental operation. After the inauguration, the train will start its journey from Uttara-Uttar station. Metrorail depot in Uttara on ground, main line by air. Dhaka Mass, a state-owned company, is responsible for the construction and operation of metro rail in and around Dhaka. Transit Company Limited (DMTCL).
According to company sources, the train will run at a speed of 5 km per hour as part of the performance test. Then the speed of the train will be gradually increased. The train movement at a speed of 25 kmph will be tested at the end of all. Thus the performance test will be done for about six months. Metro trains are fully electric. 16-18 systems including signal and communication will work in case of running train. The performance test will be followed by the main test movement, known as the ‘Integrated Test’. At this time, it will be seen whether the 16-17 systems are working properly together. All installations, including stations, must be fully prepared for experimental operation. According to DMTCL sources, the integrated test will be conducted from Uttara to Agargaon via Pallabi. This test lasts six months or more May take longer.
As it is fully electric, Metrorail Dhaka will help reduce environmental pollution
Then the train will run with passengers. According to project sources, according to the design of the metro train and line, it will be able to run at a maximum speed of 110 kmph. However, the speed of the passengers, the length of the stop at the station and the fare, these issues have not been finalized yet. The Kawasaki-Mitsubishi Consortium of Japan is responsible for designing and constructing the Metrorail train. According to DMTCL sources, the train was operated by a Japanese driver supplied by the contractor. Their engineers are supervised by technicians. All kinds of tests will be done under them. The contractor will then formally hand over the trains to Bangladesh. Then the driver hired by Bangladesh will run the train. They have already been trained in their country with driver recruitment.
Funding is provided by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

Construction of the remaining train sets is also underway. DMTCL Managing Director MAN Siddique, who is in charge of construction and operation of the Metrorail, told Prothom Alake that there have been several steps between the start of construction of the flyover for the Metrorail and the launch with passengers.
